After a few days of travelling and spending one night in a place called Penang we finally made it to paradise-The Perhentian Islands. The water was so clear you could see the bottom at 12 feet deep and the sand was a powdery white. We spent our days sipping mango shakes, eating seafood galore, and snorkeling around the islands to catch breathtaking glimpses of reef sharks, sting rays, vibrant colored tropical fish, beautiful coral, and huge sea turtles. There were moments when we were completely surrounding by thousands of fish. Towards dusk each day Levi and I would challenge the locals to some serious beach volleyball, very serious...
The week of paradise and leisure activity had to come to an end at some point so we made our way to the temperate climate of the Cameron Highlands, a little outside of Kuala Lumpur. We welcomed the cooler temperatures spent our time visiting a butterfly and strawberry farm, tea plantations and did a bit of hiking through some sub tropical rain forest.
Our short time in Kuala Lumpur turned out to be quite eventful, as we by chance ran into Rosanna's older cousin from England (Andrew) who is now living in Singapore and happened to be in Malaysia. He was visting a friend from Botswana (Millie) whom we had met before when we were there, which added to the coincidence. They were heading up an excalator in the metro as we were heading down. The second random encounter of this trip. It was nice to have some family to meet up with and spend some time with before our flight out to Australia. Small big world.
For the most part though we were just getting ready and excited about the nearing end part of our trip. We're very excited to see Heidi and Tristan on their farm outside Brisbane and Jenya and Garth in Sydney. After almost two weeks in Australia we're making our way to London to see Janice and David and attend Zack and Ellen's wedding before returning to Vancouver. It is amazing to think how time has gone by like it has. It is hard to really come to grips with all the places we have been and all the things that we have seen. We are not likely able to fully comprehend it all until we get home. We are extremely fortunate for the time that we have had on the road. I hope whomever has had a chance to follow along with the site has enjoyed both the pictures and the stories. There will be a quiz to weed out the true followers from the bandwagon jumpers when we get home.
Hope that everyone is doing well. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces very soon!
Lot of love,
Rosanna and Levi
