Entry for September 27, 2007

Isla del Sol was a beautiful island  scattered with Inca ruins and terraced hills. We were dumbfounded when we looked up at the sun....felt like we were on a different planet. Check out the pictures which depict exactly what it looked like. The sun is surrounded by a large grey ring, then a smaller rainbow ring. We kept asking locals why it looked like that but couldnĀ“t get a scientific answer. If anyone knows, please fill us in! Anyways, we hiked around the island for two days. Such a great little spot!

The ring around the sun is a fairly common site on the prairies, particularly in winter. We always thought it was a harbinger of changing weather, usually colder.
Great pics, keep it up
